Being Fearless and Embracing Change

Strong leaders can be found at each stage of life.

Hope springs eternal…

We’re creatures of change, and yet, we fear it. We welcome the new year with Champagne and hope as we promise to become better versions of ourselves. But the majority of us will break those New Year’s resolutions by the second Friday of January, National Quitter’s Day. Like you, I looked at the new year as one of promise and change. Unlike most, my resolution for 2025 isn’t about personal finance, health & wellness, or lifestyle. This year, I’m promising myself to embrace change by living fearlessly. I know I’ll break it. I know change is inevitable. But I also know embracing change is a life skill I need in order to achieve my personal and professional goals.

Embracing Professional Change

Last year was one in which change was a near constant fact of life. Sabal Group morphed into Sabal Strategy, complete with a brand new website highlighting offerings, including our FamilyTies data. Professionally, I grappled with stepping into the founder and CEO role for Sabal Strategy. As a result, I’ve learned to embrace learning more about the financial and legal side of being the head of a company that is thriving.

I know more changes  are coming for my company. As we continue to grow, our data team is charting new ways to assist our senior living marketing clients. Did you know we offer refined data lists so you can target individuals with multi-million dollar assets or military backgrounds? Or have you seen the ROI from custom audience paid search ads? We even advise smart marketing teams on the best day to drop their print and digital campaign assets.

Embracing Personal Change

My personal life is also going to see more changes. I’ve spoken before about the challenges we face as my father lives with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. The time is fast approaching when he will need a higher level of care than my mother and in-home care can provide. I know we’ve made the best choice possible but this is one change that will challenge my ability to embrace it. I realize I’m an adult, but at heart, this is my dad and home will never be the same without him there.

Embrace Change

Embracing change fearlessly might be the most difficult task I have ever attempted. But I recognize that change is inevitable. I can fight it, but I can’t avoid it. I can try to put off the day my youngest leaves home. I work at keeping the signs of middle age at arm’s length. I accept that time is a thief. And in the middle of it all, I remind myself that change brings joy and new opportunities.  I’d love to know how you’re embracing the changes that 2025 has in store for all of us. Let’s get together to chat about life, change and how to live fearlessly, whether you are 29, 49 or 79. I believe leaning into change and practicing our fearlessness means I can help your team achieve your goals. Are you ready to be fearless and embrace change?
