The Sabal Strategy team attended Greystone Communities’ Sales Adventure 2026 in Dallas, TX last week. The program’s theme, Take Flight: Your Potential Is Limitless, delivered practical strategies that leverage Greystone’s 40+ years of senior living expertise into measurable results. What resonated the most for our team was the fact that senior living is all about relationships. And we appreciated the opportunity to celebrate Sabal’s relationship with Greystone that has lasted more than a decade.
That’s one reason why our team was honored to be active participants during Sales Adventure. Natalie Groeger, our principal transformational officer, was part of the panel addressing marketing performance. The session shared insight into the effectiveness of direct mail, how to get more out of direct mail with omnichannel strategies, and how AI is impacting marketing and sales.
Sabal CEO, Maribeth Jenkins, and Angela Hamilton, principal strategy officer, joined MaryJane Fitts of Greystone for a breakout session focused on strategic prospecting. Our team focused on predictive modeling and how it helps communities discover their unique audience in order to more effectively market to them. They also shared success stories from a number of communities, including The Farms at Bailey Station, Ventana, and Kirby Pines.
Throughout the three-day meeting, the Sabal team enjoyed hearing from industry leaders. Looking back on their experiences, the team identified these 10 quotes as among the highlights of the event:
1.“Plan for Excellence. Don’t just plan to fail fast.“ ~Art dela Cruz, former TOPGUN instructor and CEO of Team Rubicon
2. The value proposition is different for every prospect. Your marketing message cannot be one-size fits most. ~John Spooner, Co-Chief Executive Officer at Greystone
3. As we work with older adults on their senior living buyer’s journey, we must learn their life story, record it, and use it to help them make this decision. Their personal “what’s in it for me” is in that story. -John Spooner
4. Somewhere along the way, we all grow up. Success becomes defined by promotions, numbers and outcomes, not just the pure joy of doing life. ~Mindy Cheek, Senior Vice President at Greystone
5. Your prospects do not stall because they do not want to move. They stall because they do not know how. ~Kiera DesChamps, KD Consulting Group
6. When we listen, we make people feel seen. When people feel seen, they move forward. ~Kiera DesChamps
7. The Rhino Principle – a mindset of relentless, single-minded action, where you identify a goal, make a firm decision and “charge” at it with 100% effort until it is achieved. ~Greystone’s guiding principle
8. “You want to live with people like you.” ~Ruth, 99, a resident of CC Young Community
9. Based on the number of Baby Boomers, there is already a short fall on the number of senior living communities available to them. We would have to start building 400 new communities today to meet the need. ~Stuart Jackson and Kurt Muellner, Greystone Communities
10. Every senior living community is trying to reinvent, redevelop, refine.
Three days flew by. Above all, we’re celebrating all of our relationships, both old and new. Thank you Greystone. Thank you for the opportunity to attend. We had a blast. And we hope to see y’all next year.
